Portrait: Darly François

A cook at Maison St-Raphaël, Darly mainly works the dinner shifts from Sunday to Thursday.

Before starting his career in gastronomy, Darly was studying interior design—not a surprise when you see his sense of style! In 2000, he decided to try his hand at food preparation, starting out at Resto Plateau. Having worked in several restaurants since, including a Caribbean restaurant, he found drawn to cook at Maison St-Raphaël. He feels good that his services impact the quality of life of the patients at the Care Home. Although many patients have food restrictions and special needs, meaning

Darly can’t showcase the full range of his skills, he still truly enjoys cooking for the patients and their loved ones. He particularly appreciates the lively atmosphere in the Home.

Darly noted The Walking Dead as a work he likes that features themes of death. Although the famous series is first and foremost a thriller-horror show, death is an important and often moving theme throughout the seasons. The series puts death in the context of a zombie apocalypse, inspiring different perspectives on the subject.

Darly adores eating tasso, a dish made with fried goat, plantains and sauce. He loves it so much that he could eat it every day! But he also has a slew of other favourites, like seafood spaghetti.

Another thing he’s passionate about is interior design. His favorite style is a mix of retro and modern. He loves planning and designing the décor for both his own and his friends’ and family’s homes.

If Darly had a superpower, it would be invisibility. He could do so many things without being seen, and he promises that he wouldn’t use this power to cause mischief. Do you believe him?
