Health, education and excellence—all under one roof
St. Raphael’s aspires to be a centre of research and excellence that will broaden training in palliative care. The main objectives are to promote innovation in the training process, as well as collaboration with the health and education sectors. We work with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the School of Nursing, and the School of Social Work at McGill University, and we will soon begin working also with the Université de Montréal.
Since 2020, we have supervised 12 interns for a total of 46,5 weeks of supervision. We are currently welcoming interns from music, massage, and art therapy programs. Our goal is to become a centre of excellence for palliative care in the community and a learning space for all those interested. So far, our main partnerships in education and innovation have been in the field of healthcare, but we want to expand to schools of business, information technology, accounting, architecture, hospitality, and other fields. We foster these partnerships and the various research projects that result from them. Our ultimate hope is that they will have an impact on end-of-life care services beyond our walls, so that other organizations throughout Quebec, Canada, and elsewhere in the world will benefit.
