On Sunday, May 26, 2024, the fourth Walk for Dignity was held in Montréal. This fourth edition was a resounding success: it raised $325,255! The Walk for Dignity is an opportunity to pay tribute to a loved one, to increase awareness of the importance of palliative care and to raise funds to ensure the continuity of free essential end of life services in Montréal. This year, over 500 people took to Côte-des-Neiges and Outremont streets for the cause.   We were honoured to welcome Jean-Marie Lapointe, son of the late Jean Lapointe, as ambassador and host of the Walk. During his father’s final days, Jean-Marie was by his side at Maison St-Raphaël and, Sunday, he walked in his father’s memory.

“It was the last home my father, Jean Lapointe, lived in. He spent the last weeks of his life surrounded by his closest friends and family, but above all by an extraordinary and caring team. That’s why I became an ambassador this year. Palliative care makes a real difference for people at the end of life, but also for their families. I have peaceful memories of those difficult times, thanks to the kind people at Maison St-Raphaël.”   – Jean-Marie Lapointe, ambassador and host of the Walk

For the fourth year, the show of support from walkers, donors and volunteers made the event a great success. The funds raised will allow us to pursue our mission of offering exceptional palliative care in a warm and welcoming environment, free of charge, to people from all walks of life who are living with an incurable illness. Thank you all for your incredible support, and a special thanks to our partners who made this event possible: Excelsoins, Groupe Santé Nadon and Maître Carré.
